Outdoor activities from Achaderry Farmhouse
Scotland is a land of activity. Whether you are young and full of energy or a little older and prefer a quieter lifestyle.
Fort William is known as the capital of Highland sport and so it should be with all that is going on here.
The location of Achaderry Estate is so well placed that you can visit the Culans on Sky and be back in time for tea. You can go on Boat trips to some of the Islands off the West coast and be back in good time. You can visit any part of Scotland apart from the extremities and be back in the same day.
Lets look nearer to home for activities.
Within the grounds of Achaderry Estate
Clay Pigeon and Rifle shooting
We are in a position to offer target shooting with shotgun and rifles. We are not offering live targets but able to offer clay Pigeon shooting with local shooters. Guns are supplied by the organizers. They are fully insured and able to help you get your target whatever your experience.
Dog walking
It is wonderful to go walking safely with your dog. We have literally thousands of trees for them to sniff and get to know. If they want to go for a swim our lake is about 1 acre in size. Please be aware that we have a herd of deer and well done to and dog that can catch up with them. We provide poo bags and ask you to use them.
Boating
If you wish to bring your own boat you can use the lake and have a most enjoyable day on the water.
BBQ
If you would like to have a BBQ by the waters edge feel free to do so at the appropriate places.
Walking The estate has a number of tracks that you can walk. We have positioned them so that they go around the lochan and past large groups of trees. Some parts are left wild so that you and the family can discover the wild west of Scotland.
Outwith the grounds
The Highlands of Scotland are full of activity providers. So if you want to learn to Kayak or go mountain climbing, or perhaps learn to ice climb, it is all accessible in this area. There are a number of places to to go off road biking or Quad biking. Nevis Rang hosts the world cup for mountain biking. There are places in Fort William that hire out mountain bikes.
Skiing and snowboarding is always popular as a winter sport. You can hire equipment from the base of Aonach Mor, from Nevis Range. The list is endless, just phone and we will be happy to advise on the activities.
If on the other hand you would like to take life a little more gentle there are lots of places to go to. For instance a trip up the gondola at Nevis Range will take you up the mountain for a spectacular view of the Highlands. The scenery is wonderful at any time of the year, so enjoy a trip out, if only to observe the countryside.
